Wild horses are a magical and poetic part of our North American landscape. There is controversy at every turn. There are people who fight to preserve and protect our wild horses tirelessly. Last year, however, an estimated 2500 wild horses in the USA were sold to a dealer known to sell to slaughter houses. This year there is proposed legislation that would allow our wild horses and burros to be sold to slaughter. This issue comes up frequently and I am grateful for those who keep fighting for humane solutions. This painting is a collage of faces. My reference photos are from the images of Clydene Forbush, who tirelessly and enthusiastically photographs our wild horse herds.
This painting is going to become a donation painting. 50% of the profits will go to a non-profit group who fight for the wild horses. I currently am working out details.
If you, my customer, live in Canada 50% of the profits will go to an organization who represents the wild horses in Canda. If you live in the United States 50% of the profits will go to a USA based organization. 25% of the profits will go to Clydene. Her outstanding images represent why these animals deserve our support.
